Greetings ladies! It has been a dramatic raya 2018, and we've all had a bit too much of that lemang and rendang and now it's time to burn it! *The 10/6 Challenge* is back! Tabur East One sunny Sunday morning, Roselyn and I were chilling and talking about what our plans were for the day. We hadn’t planned any hike for that weekend, so we decided to hike Tabur East. I’d gotten into an accident some days before and my car was still in the workshop, so we took a Grab and got there around noon. We thought Tabur East would be great because it met all the criteria for a spontaneous hike: Short hike Easy but not too easy (good practice) Very near (20 mins drive from where I live) Great view Bukit Tabur, also known as Bukit Hangus, is not really a mountain, but part of the Klang Gates Quartz Ridge which can be seen from the MRR2. It is about 500 metres above sea level. I imagine the ridge would look like a bony spine from above, stretching its way across KL. No idea why it’s called Hangus though. Mount Berembun 1840m The Cameron Highlands in Pahang is super popular tourist destination for its cool climate, strawberries, and tea plantations. While we’ve lost some of this lush vegetation to overdevelopment and illegal farming activities, there are still 14 amazing trails you can hike. What’s interesting is that these trails used to be for the military in the 1960s, when the country was fighting communists. It was a quiet afternoon in Cameron Highlands when the GOTMAD crew consisting of G, Sophie and Aili had an itch to hike up a mountain. We're always itchy. After shopping almost derailed our plans, we finally headed for the mountain. There are three Gunung Berembuns in Malaysia, with the other two in Negeri Sembilan and Terengganu. There should be a council of mountain name advisers so things like having three mountains with the same name won't happen. GOTMAD @ Chilling 28 th April 2018 / Saturday Chillin’ at Chiling The second hike in the GOTMAD 10/6 Challenge is the Sungai Chiling waterfall trail. According to malaysia-traveller.com, this waterfall is Selangor’s most impressive. I’m not sure if “impressiveness” is an actual criterion used to rate the world’s waterfalls, but that should give you an idea that it’s quite cool. It’s 500 metres of gushing water, with plenty of friendly Mahseer/kelah fish. Note: you are not allowed to catch, BBQ, or sashimi the fish. I think someone must have tried to sashimi once (“Oh, but technically , it’s not BBQ.”) The waterfall is in the Sungai Chiling Fish Sanctuary in Kuala Kubu Baru. It’s practically on the foothills of Fraser’s Hill. On your way there you can catch a glimpse of the Selangor dam.
